Payroll Giving

A new voluntary scheme called payroll giving will be available from 7 January 2010. It’s an easy way for employees to support a good cause. Payroll giving allows people to ‘give as they earn’ by making donations directly from their pay. They’ll receive tax credits off 33 1/3 cents for each dollar they donate, for that pay period. For example, if you donate $10, you will receive a tax credit of $3.33. It’s easy! If you would like to regularly give a donation from your payroll to support the local Central Region stroke community services, then do talk to your employer! For more information, go to www.ird.co.nz and use the keyword payroll giving in the search function. For business owners and managers: If payroll giving is something your organisation is interested in you can find out more in the Payroll giving guide (IR617) or by visiting www.ird.govt.nz Download the Payroll Giving Guide (IR617) here >>.
